Well put! It seems counterproductive to question the intentions of those who commit good deeds because they are incentivized. We should question why doing a good deed is not consistently rewarded and acknowledged!

HS students need to be informed of their rights before proceeding with signing their lives away in a pursuit of a degree in any field. Even engineers are struggling these days. Back when I was in school I was diagnosed with ms and ended up with 60,000 dollars in student loan payments. That at a minimum wage job that will never be fully paid back, I'm only 27 now mind you. I regret the day that someone even told me to go to college for anything. What other choices do you have but civil disobedience when the majority are even listening. Since its a republican congress it would be 20 years. The only option for young people these days are to leave the country completely, and go somewhere else. And try to discharge student loan payments in court like in Canada.

Good piece, Alex. I don't think they're doing a bit of good. That's why I think we should boycott education.

Hi Pious,

Thanks for your comment. Most people do exactly that, rely on their regular savings, when its most appropriate to use the emergency fund. Thanks for sharing your experience.

I feel you bro. I too am a first gen. and I remember my mentors being afraid for me once I completed college because of the amount of loans I would have to take out to secure my degree. My mom, a single parent of five couldn't put food on the table, so the idea that she would put money away for my college education was unthinkable. I, at the time had no clue what my mentors were so concerned about because all I could think of was the fact that I had, quote unquote made it and was on my way to securing my ticket out of the hood. I could not have been more wrong! My advice, find the cheapest way to attend school or don't go at all!
